Softball Recap: Eastern Greene Find Success

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Eastern Greene ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the White River Valley Wolverines 7-6. The Thunderbirds haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Charley Paurazas made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over eight innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Paurazas was also big at the plate, going 3-for-6 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, Ashlynn Bellman was incredible, going 3-for-6 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Grace Deckard was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Eastern Greene kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Eastern Greene's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-6. As for White River Valley, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-11.

Eastern Greene didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 26-5 loss against Linton-Stockton on the 8th. As for White River Valley, they will take on South Knox at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
