Football Game Preview: Gulf Coast Sharks vs. Bishop Verot Vikings + How To Watch

Two dominant backs in Javien Altine and Macrae Thompson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Gulf Coast Sharks will be playing at home against the Bishop Verot Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gulf Coast will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Last Friday, Gulf Coast beat Barron Collier 28-21.

Gio Marenco and Julian Rodriguez were among the main playmakers for Gulf Coast as the former rushed for 167 yards while picking up 8.4 yards per carry and the latter rushed for 62 yards and two scores. Marenco is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 107 every time he's taken the field this season.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Gulf Coast was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 334 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 201 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Gulf Coast's defense and their five sacks. Barron Collier's QB won't forget Altine anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Altine also punched in three rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Gulf Coast is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Another thorn in Barron Collier's side was Da'Nte Lindsey, who picked up a sack, made 12 total tackles, and defended one pass.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 43 points the game before, Bishop Verot was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They fell just short of Glades Central by a score of 14-12.

Bishop Verot dropped their record down to 3-4 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Gulf Coast, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
