Baseball Recap: Shrine Catholic Takes a Loss

Shrine Catholic lost a heartbreaker to Cabrini when they met back in April of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Monday. Shrine Catholic took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cabrini. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Knights couldn't push the score so high this time.

Nate Alba spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Adam Imai made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Mike McGavin also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Shrine Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Cabrini, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

While Shrine Catholic had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
