Basketball Recap: Milford Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Milford had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.2 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They walked away with a 59-47 victory over the Thayer Central Titans. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Thayer Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Paige Tietjen, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 19 points and three steals. With that strong performance, Tietjen is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Leah Havel, who posted 12 points.

Milford's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points per game. As for Thayer Central, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3.
