Basketball Game Preview: Parkersburg Catholic Crusaders vs. Wirt County Tigers

Parkersburg Catholic hasn't had much luck against Wirt County recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Parkersburg Catholic Crusaders will challenge the Wirt County Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Parkersburg Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.3 points per game this season.

Parkersburg Catholic is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Saturday. They took a blow against Waterford, falling 67-33. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Crusaders came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 97th in West Virginia, while the Wildcats are ranked 665th in Ohio).

The losing side was boosted by Preston Randolph, who posted 14 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Wirt County played a tough match on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Ravenswood, falling 58-33. The contest marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Wirt County's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Parkersburg Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

Parkersburg Catholic took a serious blow against Wirt County in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 72-38. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Wirt County's Braylan Dawson, who went 10 of 17 on his way to 24 points and four steals.
