Basketball Recap: Jonathan Clarke Key Part of a Team Effort in Knights Win

Sunset posted their closest win since November 21, 2024 on Thursday. They had just enough and edged the Edison Red Raiders out 50-47. That's more bragging rights for the Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Sunset's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jonathan Clarke, who went 8 for 11 on his way to 18 points and six steals. With that strong performance, Clarke is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Brandon Luis, who went 7 of 16 en route to 18 points and five assists.

Sunset was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Edison only posted two assists.

Edison's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shedrick Rolle, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 13 points. Issaiah Nonomme was another key player, going 6 of 12 en route to 12 points.

The win made it two in a row for Sunset and bumps their season record up to 8-6. As for Edison, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Sunset didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-39 loss against Mater Bay Academy on the 24th. As for Edison, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-24 defeat against Southwest on the 24th.
