Recap: Thayer Central Titans vs. Southern Raiders
The Thayer Central Titans lost against the Southern Raiders back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Thayer Central fell just short of Southern by a score of 44-42. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Thayer Central in their matchups with Southern: they've now lost nine in a row.
Thayer Central's loss came despite strong showings from Will Heitmann and Sam Souerdyke. Heitmann scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Souerdyke dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Thayer Central has not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. As for Southern, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-8.
Thayer Central will look to defend their home court on Friday against Fillmore Central at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Thayer Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday. As for Southern, they will head out on the road to face off against Pawnee City on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Southern is ranked 137th, while Pawnee City is ranked 152nd).
