Basketball Recap: Del Valle Takes a Loss

Del Valle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost to the Bel Air Highlanders on the road by a 51-32 margin. While losing is never fun, the Conquistadores can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1071st, while the Highlanders are ranked 377th).

Bel Air's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayde Martinez led the charge by putting up 12 points in addition to six assists and five boards. That's the most assists Martinez has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Adalyn Palomo, who went 7 for 12 en route to 16 points and three steals.

Del Valle's defeat dropped their record down to 8-19. As for Bel Air, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

Del Valle has already played their next game (against Horizon), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Bel Air wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 53-41 victory against El Dorado on the 21st.
