Basketball Preview: Prairie Central Hawks vs. LaSalle-Peru Cavaliers
The Prairie Central Hawks will head out on the road to take on the LaSalle-Peru Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Prairie Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Prairie Central is headed into the matchup having just posted their biggest victory since January 14th on Thursday. They put the hurt on Beecher with a sharp 60-35 win. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Prairie Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Abi Nimbler led the charge by going 7 of 12 en route to 19 points and five boards. What's more, Nimbler also posted a 60% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024. Jayla Hammond was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, LaSalle-Peru was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 47-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Princeton.
Prairie Central's win bumped their record up to 11-18. As for LaSalle-Peru, their loss dropped their record down to 10-16.
