Leavenworth came into Wednesday's matchup having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past the Washington Wildcats 18-1 on Wednesday. With that win, the PIONEERS brought their scoring average up to 7.1 runs per game.

Luci Pennington made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Pennington was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season.

In other batting news, Ramzey Craig was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Charlie Vigil, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Leavenworth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Washington only posted an OBP of .333.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-6. As for Washington, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Leavenworth beat the Wildcats by a score of 20-1 later that day.
