Basketball Recap: Northfield Triumphs

Northfield hadn't done well against John Marshall recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Northfield Raiders narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the John Marshall Rockets 49-46. This was payback for the Raiders, who suffered a 67-60 loss the last time these two teams met.

Among those leading the charge was Callie Lynch, who posted 15 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Amber Mahal, who put up seven points and eight rebounds.

Northfield's record now sits at 6-4. As for John Marshall, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northfield will host Albert Lea at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Northfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.7 points per game this season. As for John Marshall, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Lakeville South at 7:30 p.m.
