Softball Recap: Willard Crimson Flashes vs. Vermilion Sailors

Willard had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-14 to make it six. They took a 16-11 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vermilion Sailors. Even if the Crimson Flashes couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Lauren Hamons made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Brinn Trimner was another key player, going 1-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

Vermilion's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Vermilion's side, Jilly Leimbach was incredible, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Leimbach has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Zsebik, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.
