Basketball Recap: Minden Comes Up Short + How To Watch

If Minden was riding high fresh off their 80-52 takedown of Southern Valley on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Whippets took a blow against the Ogallala Indians on Saturday, falling 73-21. The Whippets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 55-14.

They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Traelin Christensen and Landon Bules, who each put up seven points. Luke Craig held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

Ogallala got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sawyer Smith out in front who shot 67% from the field on his way to 15 points in addition to seven assists and five boards. Smith's big performance that evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Decastro, who went 7-for-9 en route to 17 points along with five rebounds and four blocks.

Minden dropped their record down to 1-1 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Minden didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-42 victory against Lexington on the 9th. As for Ogallala, they will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Chase County at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
