Baseball Recap: De Soto Takes a Loss

If De Soto was riding high fresh off their 7-0 takedown of North Crawford on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pirates fell 8-5 to the Westby Norsemen on Friday. The Pirates have struggled against the Norsemen recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

De Soto saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin DeFlorian, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. DeFlorian is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

De Soto's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Westby, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 17-4.

De Soto wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 16-0 win against La Farge on the 12th. Westby has also already played their next game (against Black River Falls), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
