Softball Game Preview: Apache Junction Prospectors vs. Seton Catholic Sentinels

The Apache Junction Prospectors are taking a road trip to face off against the Seton Catholic Sentinels at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Apache Junction has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Seton Catholic will arrive with five straight wins.

Apache Junction lost 19-4 to Florence on Friday.

Meanwhile, Seton Catholic got the win against Florence on Tuesday by a conclusive 11-1. Considering the Sentinels have won three contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Brooke Zuluaga made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Scarlett Olivares was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Abbey Cota, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run.

Seton Catholic's record now sits at 5-0. As for Apache Junction, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Apache Junction suffered a grim 20-0 defeat to Seton Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Prospectors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
