Basketball Recap: Dalton's Loss Ends Eight-Game Winning Streak at Home

Dalton entered their match against Calhoun on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Dalton Catamounts were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 59-58 to the Calhoun Yellow Jackets. The Catamounts were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellow Jackets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Leading Calhoun to victory were Jaxon Moore and Jace Johns. Moore posted ten points and seven rebounds, while Johns had 13 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Trace Hawkins, who put up nine points.

Dalton's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-8. As for Calhoun, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Dalton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 79-12 victory against Southeast Whitfield County on the 21st. As for Calhoun, they will face off against Gilmer at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Calhoun is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.9 points per game this season.
