Baseball Recap: Hilton Head Island Drops Season-High Score on Sevier County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hilton Head Island). They skirted past the Sevier County Smoky Bears 18-17. With that win, the Seahawks brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Hilton Head Island got a massive performance out of Slater Alsobrook, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Alsobrook has posted since back in April of 2024. Grady Cherrington-Dunton also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Hilton Head Island was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Hilton Head Island, bringing their record up to 7-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Sevier County, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hilton Head Island will host Bluffton at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Sevier County, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Morristown-Hamblen West at 4:30 p.m.
