Softball Recap: Riesel Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Riesel can now relate to. They fell just short of Ganado by a score of 5-4 on Thursday. Riesel's loss signaled the end of their 21-game winning streak.

Kyleigh Benton (UAM) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Landri Pick (Georgia Tech) made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Lauren Summers (UAM) was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Riesel's defeat dropped their record down to 28-5-1. As for Ganado, they are on a roll lately: they've won 23 of their last 24 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 33-5-1 record this season.

As of now, neither Riesel nor Ganado have any future games scheduled.
