Football Recap: Trystan Beebout Leads Valentine's Defense on Friday

If Mitchell wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Valentine, they should've done a better job of containing Parker Chavez. Valentine walked away with a 28-21 win over Mitchell on Friday for which the team can thank Chavez, who rushed for 87 yards and one score. His longest rush was for an incredible 90 yards.

Valentine didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Trystan Beebout, Dominic Beebout, and Colin Bailey picked up one apiece. Dominic's receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 101 receiving yards. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Michael Plasencio, who rushed for 111 yards and one TD on only 12 carries, and also picked up 40 receiving yards and one touchdown. Josh Hazzard helped out on the ground, rushing for 96 yards.

Valentine picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Mitchell, they dropped their record down to 2-4 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Valentine will take on rival Amherst at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Mitchell is set to challenge their familiar foe Kearney Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
