Baseball Game Preview: Oaks Christian Lions vs. JSerra Catholic Lions

For the second straight game, Oaks Christian will face off against JSerra Catholic. Oaks Christian is taking a road trip to face off against JSerra Catholic at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Oaks Christian has three straight wins, JSerra Catholic has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Lions on Monday. Oaks Christian blew past JSerra Catholic 12-3. The result was nothing new for Oaks Christian, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Connor Sahagun looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Carson Sheffer, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dane Disney, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Oaks Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.

Oaks Christian pushed their record up to 18-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for JSerra Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 10-16.
