Baseball Game Preview: Austin Maroons vs. Westlake Chaparrals

Austin is 1-9 against Westlake since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Austin will be playing at home against Westlake at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Austin turned things around against Dripping Springs on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Maroons have posted since March 9, 2024.

Meanwhile, Westlake never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Akins as Westlake made off with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Chaparrals, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Westlake is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 games. That somehow still isn't as good as their 16-2-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. Austin's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-14.
