Baseball Game Preview: Denver North Vikings vs. Northfield Nighthawks

The Denver North Vikings will head out on the road to square off against the Northfield Nighthawks at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Thomas Jefferson hit Denver North with a five-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings fell 8-5 to the Spartans. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Denver North saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angel Gallegos, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Northfield came out on top against Montbello on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run sixth inning. The Nighthawks walked away with a 12-8 victory over the Warriors. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Nighthawks considering their one-run performance the game before.

Peter Worth was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Eli Jackson was another key player, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.

Northfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Montbello only managed five hits.

Northfield's record is now 14-2. As for Denver North, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Denver North couldn't quite get it done against Northfield when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-4. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
