Basketball Recap: Sam Houston Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Sam Houston can now relate to. They fell 38-29 to the Southside Cardinals on Tuesday. The Hurricanes were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cardinals earlier this season, when they won 48-37.

It was another big night for McKayla Flores, who went 9 for 16 en route to 22 points and six steals for Southside. Flores' evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Gabryela Galvan, who posted nine points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Sam Houston's loss dropped their record down to 30-5. As for Southside, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 28-8.

Sam Houston does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southside, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Cardinals take on the Panthers on Thursday.
