Preview: West Carrollton Pirates vs. Fairborn Skyhawks
West Carrollton is 8-2 against Fairborn since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The West Carrollton Pirates will be playing at home against the Fairborn Skyhawks at 7:15 p.m. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
West Carrollton pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 61-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Stebbins. While losing is never fun, West Carrollton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 522nd, while Stebbins is ranked 243rd).
Meanwhile, Fairborn unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 60-43 to Stebbins.
Sean Townsend put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Taiyou Williams was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds and five assists.
West Carrollton has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Fairborn, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
West Carrollton strolled past Fairborn in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a score of 67-50. Does West Carrollton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fairborn turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
