Lindsay is 9-1 against Orosi since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Lindsay will host Orosi at 4:00 p.m. Lindsay is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
On Thursday, Lindsay didn't have quite enough to beat Granite Hills and fell 5-4.
Isabelle Centeno spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Sophia Macias Jauregui was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs. Hayleigh Tenorio was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Orosi and Summit Charter Collegiate Academy had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 17-10 margin over the Bears on Thursday. With that win, the Cardinals brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Miah Lopez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and nine unearned) runs off four hits. Lopez was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Makayla Soto, who went 2-for-6 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Krystyn Zamora, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Orosi always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .521. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Lindsay's loss dropped their record down to 5-16-1. As for Orosi, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-18-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lindsay has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Orosi struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Lindsay suffered a grim 11-5 defeat to Orosi in their previous matchup back in March. Will Lindsay have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
