It's playoff time, and Loyd Star had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Pelahatchie Chiefs with a sharp 8-0 win on Saturday. Considering the Hornets have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Loyd Star's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Pelahatchie, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season.
