Softball Game Preview: Mitchell Mountaineers vs. Mountain Heritage Cougars

For the second straight game, Mitchell will face off against Mountain Heritage. The Mountaineers will welcome the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Mitchell is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Mitchell came up short against Mountain Heritage on Tuesday, falling 14-4.

For Mountain Heritage's part, Ella Buchanan spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits. Those hits were Buchanan's first of the season.

On the hitting side, Cheyenne Melton was a standout: she scored three runs while going 3-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Madi Dillinger was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

Melton wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Mountain Heritage kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Mitchell's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Mountain Heritage, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6.
