The home team had come away the winner the last seven times Alleghany and Glenvar had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Cougars had just enough and edged out the Highlanders 3-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-1 back in April.

Alleghany pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Glenvar, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 12-6 record.

Coming up, Alleghany will face off against Floyd County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Buffaloes have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season. As for Glenvar, they will take on James River at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
