Softball Recap: Melrose Red Raiders vs. Belmont Marauders

Melrose had lost 11 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 1-11 to make it 12. They took a 14-11 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Belmont Marauders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Marauders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-0 back in April.

As for Belmont, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-6. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

For Belmont's part, Lily Phillips was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Phillips a new career-high. Amelia Ormond was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
