Preview: Casady Cyclones vs. Holdenville Wolverines
Casady has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Holdenville Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Casady didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Prague, but they still walked away with a 50-45 victory. The win was all the more spectacular given Casady's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 802nd, while Prague is ranked 250th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Casady to victory, but perhaps none more so than Trinity Boone, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Boone has scored at least a third of Casady's points. Another player making a difference was Reagan Prestidge, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Holdenville had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They took their matchup at home on Saturday with ease, bagging a 72-35 victory over Henryetta. Holdenville has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 21 points or more this season.
Casady has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-13 record this season. As for Holdenville, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-5.
Casady took a serious blow against Holdenville in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 57-21. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Casady was down 36-6.
