Volleyball Recap: Tanque Verde Takes a Loss

Tanque Verde's tournament run continued when they took on Mesquite on Friday. The Hawks took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Their offense was headlined by Sophia Cheney and Ella Haggard, who picked up three kills apiece. They got some help from Lauren Rietz and her seven assists. Cheney was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Mesquite's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cami White led the charge by getting 11 assists and four digs.

Tanque Verde's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Mesquite, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Tanque Verde has already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against Sahuaro on the 19th. As for Mesquite, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Rincon/University on the 19th.
