Baseball Recap: Poston Butte Takes a Loss

Poston Butte lost against ALA - Gilbert North last Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Broncos took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The Broncos just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Damian Serrano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Poston Butte saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cordd Baker, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Baker is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played.

Poston Butte's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for ALA - Gilbert North, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poston Butte will challenge Deer Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Skyhawks will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Broncos surely won't give up without a fight. As for ALA - Gilbert North, they will take on Cactus at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles are facing the Cobras at the right time seeing as the Cobras are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
