Softball Game Preview: Kolbe-Cathedral Cougars vs. Stratford Red Devils

The Kolbe-Cathedral Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Stratford Red Devils at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Kolbe-Cathedral came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Immaculate, falling 13-1. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost five in a row.

Kolbe-Cathedral saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samantha Galarza, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.

Notre Dame Prep hit Stratford with a four-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Devils lost 13-1 to the Lancers.

Kolbe-Cathedral's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Stratford, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.

Kolbe-Cathedral suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Stratford in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
