Basketball Recap: Trego Golden Eagles vs. Quinter Bulldogs
Trego lost against Quinter back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Trego Golden Eagles were beaten by the Quinter Bulldogs 67-26. The Golden Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-12.
Despite the loss, Trego still got an impressive performance from Tegan Lang, who posted ten points and four steals. Morgan Brown was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.
Bryn Gillespie continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Quinter, going 9-for-12 on her way to 23 points and five steals. What's more, Gillespie also posted a 75% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's achieved since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Braelyn Blackwill, who went 5-for-9 en route to 14 points and five rebounds.
Trego's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Quinter, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.
Coming up, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Golden Eagles challenge the Bluejays at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Norton will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Trego surely won't give up without a fight. As for Quinter, they will square off against Decatur Community at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Quinter is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.2 points per game this season.
