Basketball Game Preview: Grayson County Cougars vs. Butler County Bears

The Grayson County Cougars will face off against the Butler County Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Grayson County's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Butler County has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.

Grayson County will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any points on Friday, then bounced right back against Hart County on Tuesday. Grayson County claimed a resounding 61-27 victory over Hart County. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Raiders are ranked 210th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Butler County fought the good fight in their overtime game against Todd County Central on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rebels by a score of 71-69.

Grayson County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4-1 record this season. As for Butler County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.

Grayson County beat Butler County 46-35 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Will Grayson County repeat their success, or does Butler County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
