Baseball Recap: Whitney Takes a Loss

Whitney lost against Rocklin last Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Thunder by a score of 5-4. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Whitney got a good showing from Braeden Jenest, who tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Jenest has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Josh Mendoza was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Whitney's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Rocklin, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

While Whitney had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
