Basketball Recap: Shenendehowa Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Shenendehowa won the last time they faced Ballston Spa and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Shenendehowa Plainsmen came out on top against the Ballston Spa Scotties by a score of 58-48. Given the Plainsmen's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Scotties are ranked 121st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Scotties players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mallory Sprissler, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Sprissler a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Kramer, who went 6 of 15 on her way to 14 points and five rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Shenendehowa and bumps their season record up to 13-4. As for Ballston Spa, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shenendehowa will welcome Bethlehem Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bethlehem Central will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Shenendehowa surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ballston Spa, they and Schalmont will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played.
