Baseball Recap: High Point Academy Grizzlies vs. Blacksburg Wildcats
High Point Academy extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-12-1 in the process. They came up short against the Blacksburg Wildcats, falling 11-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-4 on Monday.
High Point Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kylan Petras, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
As for Blacksburg, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-17. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games.
On Blacksburg's side, Matty Cody made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over 4.2 innings pitched.
