Football Game Preview: Kaplan Pirates vs. St. Martinville Tigers

The Kaplan Pirates are taking a road trip to face off against the St. Martinville Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Kaplan's last matchup with Erath could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Thursday. The Pirates were dealt a 50-8 loss at the hands of the Bobcats. The Pirates were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-8.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three matchup, St. Martinville brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They walked away with a 50-40 victory over Abbeville on Friday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Kaplan's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-4. As for St. Martinville, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.

Everything came up roses for Kaplan against St. Martinville when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 32-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
