Baseball Recap: Malden Takes a Loss

Malden extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 12-5 in the process. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lynn English Bulldogs. The match marked the first time this year in which the Golden Tornados were not able to get on the board.

As for Lynn English, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-7. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games.

For Lynn English's part, not much got past Engel Thomas, who gave up just four hits to keep Malden off the board. Thomas also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Bulldogs are 5-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Lynn English saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gilbert Galva, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Coming up, Malden will welcome Brookline at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lynn English, they are taking a road trip to face off against Somerville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
