For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last six times McGuffey and Charleroi have met, but the home crowd finally got their W  on Tuesday. The Highlanders put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp  9-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Highlanders, who have now won six contests by eight  runs or more  so far this season.
 Makenna Crothers made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  struck out six batters over  seven innings while giving up just one earned run off   six  hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 3-for-4 with two  RBI and one  double. That's the most  hits  she has posted since back in April of 2024.
 In other batting news,  Miley Main was  incredible,  going 2-for-4 with two  stolen bases, two  runs,  and one  double.  Maura Janovich was another key player,  going a perfect 4-for-4 with one  run and one  RBI.
 McGuffey  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 13  hits. They are  a perfect 5-0 when  they post 11 or more  hits.
McGuffey pushed their record up to 8-4 with the  win, which was their fifth straight  at home. Those  home  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Charleroi,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 4-6.
 Looking ahead, McGuffey will challenge East Allegheny at 3:45  p.m.  on Wednesday. The Highlanders are facing the Wild Cats at the right time seeing as the Wild Cats are stuck on  an  eight-game losing streak. As for Charleroi, they will face off against Keystone Oaks at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday.
