Basketball Game Preview: Salem Hills Skyhawks vs. Maple Mountain Golden Eagles

The Salem Hills Skyhawks will challenge the Maple Mountain Golden Eagles at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Maple Mountain took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Salem Hills, who comes in off a win.

On Tuesday, Salem Hills made easy work of Spanish Fork and carried off a 49-28 win. The Skyhawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 20 points or more this season.

Brooke Warren continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8 of 13 on her way to 20 points in addition to six boards and four steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Chenielle Nye, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards.

Meanwhile, Maple Mountain suffered their closest loss since November 22, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Springville by a score of 47-44.

Salem Hills will need focus on slowing down Leah Bailey, one of several Maple Mountain players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 13 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ashlynn Lainhart, who had eight points and four steals.

Salem Hills' victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Maple Mountain, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Salem Hills didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Maple Mountain in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 55-50 win.
