Baseball Recap: Northeast's Losing Streak Snapped at Seven Games

Northeast can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Yates Center Wildcats. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by seven runs or more this season.

Spencer Wade made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last five contests. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Northeast's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-7 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Northeast let Tayven Willard and Jayden Wetzel run wild. Willard scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Wetzel went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Northeast is undefeated when Wetzel posts two or more runs, but 1-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Baker, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Northeast's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Yates Center, they dropped their record down to 2-9 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Northeast beat the Wildcats by a score of 13-5 later that day.
