Softball Game Preview: Vicksburg Gators vs. Grenada Chargers

For the second straight game, Vicksburg will face off against Grenada. The Gators will take on the Chargers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

Vicksburg heads in on the heels of a playoff match on Friday. They fell 6-3 to Grenada. The Gators' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

For Grenada's part, Mary Taylour Wilbourn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. Wilbourn has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Olivia Lashley was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Grenada's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Vicksburg, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.
