Football Game Preview: Central Valley Academy Thunder vs. Institute of Tech Eagles

The Central Valley Academy Thunder are taking a road trip to square off against the Institute of Tech Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Central Valley Academy barely beat Chittenango the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Thunder blew past the Bears 42-19 on Friday. 42 seems to be a good number for the Thunder as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Institute of Tech had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 36-15 margin over the Spartans. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Eagles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 157th, while the Spartans are ranked 374th).

Central Valley Academy better focus on containing Samir Salaam Jennings-Bey and Tyquanne Harris as the pair were huge in Institute of Tech's win. Salaam Jennings-Bey rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries, while Harris rushed for 65 yards and one TD.

Institute of Tech was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 267 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Institute of Tech didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Nyquan Gilbert and Dj Adams.

Central Valley Academy now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Institute of Tech, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

Central Valley Academy came up short against Institute of Tech when the teams last played back in September of 2023, falling 16-7. Can the Thunder avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
