Cahokia has gone a perfect 8-0 against Mt. Vernon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Comanches will head out on the road to challenge the Rams at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cahokia has three straight wins, Mt. Vernon has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Cahokia beat Marion 28-22.

A big part of Cahokia's victory came down to the chemistry between Nigel Gooden and his top target Hartles Holman. Gooden threw for 201 yards and two touchdowns while Holman picked up 78 receiving yards and one score. Holman was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 61 yards.

Cahokia was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 233 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 191 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Cahokia didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Donald Collier and Earnest Winters. Cahokia got some further help from Malik Mazyun: he picked up a sack and made 14 total tackles.

Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon ended up a good deal behind Althoff Catholic on Friday and lost 37-20.

Cahokia's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Mt. Vernon, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Everything came up roses for Cahokia against Mt. Vernon in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 28-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comanches since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
