The Point Arena Pirates will venture away from home to challenge the Tomales Braves at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Point Arena is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.1 points per game this season.
Point Arena is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Novato just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to the Hornets 49-43. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Pirates came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 369th, while the Hornets are ranked 801st).

Point Arena might have lost, but man, Fernando Lopez was a machine: he dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. Lopez has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tosh Mouton, who posted eight points and nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Point Arena smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive boards in 39 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Tomales made easy work of Anderson Valley back in December of 2024 and carried off a 57-31 win.
Tomales' win came from a few key players Point Arena will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Wyatt Cornett, who earned 15 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Erick Dominguez, who put up 12 points.
Point Arena's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-3. As for Tomales, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Point Arena has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 47.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Tomales struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.3 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Point Arena against Tomales in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, as the team secured a 72-25 win. In that game, Point Arena amassed a halftime lead of 40-16, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
