Baseball Recap: Eastern Has No Trouble Against Clinton Central

Eastern barely beat Clinton Central the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Comets put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 13-4 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won 14 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Perry Kochensparger and Trey Beachy did most of the damage at the plate: Kochensparger got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Beachy went 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Alister Shrock, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Eastern's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Clinton Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.

Eastern didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-3 win against Lewis Cass on the 16th. As for Clinton Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 9-2 defeat against Western Boone on the 17th.
