Softball Recap: Portland Wins Going Away Against Windham

The Portland Highlanders got the win against the Windham Whippets on Wednesday by a conclusive 20-13. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Highlanders.

Portland let Lily Hale and Gabriella DeFronzo run wild. Hale went 3-for-6 with four stolen bases and five runs, while DeFronzo went 3-for-5 with four runs and two stolen bases. Those four stolen bases gave Hale a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abby France, who went 4-for-6 with one stolen base and one run.

Portland's victory bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Windham, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Portland will host Old Lyme at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Considering the Highlanders have lost three straight at home and the Wildcats four straight on the road, this one might come down to who's more desperate to change their momentum. As for Windham, they will welcome East Hampton at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
