It was a good run, but Alamo Heights unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 58-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pieper Warriors. The Mules were not able to make up for their loss to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in November of 2023.
Several Mules players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Matthew Munguia, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gunnar Jones, who posted seven points and four steals.
It was another big night for MAYSON THOMAS, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards for Pieper. THOMAS's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. SANTIAGO LOYA was another key player, going 6 of 12 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds.
Alamo Heights' defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 17-4. As for Pieper, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Alamo Heights wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 71-24 victory against Southwest Legacy on the 27th. As for Pieper, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 72-51 loss against Melissa on the 26th.
